Christmas Tips For Caterers
Christmas is fast approaching – renowned as the busiest time of the year for caterers – and many businesses will already be looking at packed schedules for most days throughout December and thereafter. Catering is one area that always excels at Christmas – large parties and events are commonplace, and serving up a feast to a crowd of dozens is no easy task – but here at Fascia Graphics, we’ve come up with a few tips to help make the Christmas catering season run smoothly.
Know Your Menus
Ensure that everyone working on your team knows your menus inside-out. Many catering teams have a set menu for Christmas, while others can adapt to the demands of their clients. Whatever method your catering company chooses, be sure that everyone involved with the food preparation knows exactly what processes to follow and can answer any questions.
Stock Up On The Correct Tools
A survey published by YouGov back in 2012 shows that 62% of British catering firms admitted that running short of the right equipment caused delays in their food delivery times. Just 18% said they were happy with the catering equipment they had, and 20% confirmed they were planning to spend more on catering tools. Aside from the obvious ovens, fridges and dishwashers, you’ll also need appliances like boilers and blenders, as well as icemakers and drinks machines to ensure speedy service.
Ensure that you have adequate labels and membrane keypads on your ovens, fridges and other appliances, so that you’ll be able to keep track of crucial things like temperature and time. This is any chef’s bread and butter (no pun intended), and checking temperatures and timings is second nature to many – but without the right labelling tools, it can all go awry.
Here at Fascia Graphics, we provide membrane keypads, graphic overlays and labels to catering equipment manufacturers across Europe. We adapt our products to ensure they meet the demands of our clients in various sectors – in catering, we guarantee our keypads and labels maintain cosmetic appeal and physical durability, as well as giving them important anti-microbial properties that are essential in the catering world.
Be Extra Vigilant With Health & Safety
Christmas is often a time when many people overindulge – and the side-effects of their festive enjoyment can be unpleasant the morning after. Unfortunately, many people will be more inclined to blame their meal for any sickness, as opposed to overindulgence – so it’s up to catering businesses to ensure that their backs are covered at all times, lest they want a visit from the health inspector when the New Year rolls around.
