Manufacturing Trend Predictions
Manufacturing Trend Predictions
Manufacturing is constantly changing, especially with the invention of new technology. Manufacturers have to incorporate new methods into their work to meet new demand. However, this new demand will soon give way to another in the upcoming year. We look at trend predictions for 2016, and what companies will need to do to stay ahead of the pace.
A major tool in the way that companies operate - social media will continue to play an integral part in the way manufacturers communicate with customers. For very little cost companies can tackle audience concerns, as well as increasing brand visibility and reputation. Through social media manufacturers can tracks trends and demand faster and easier. This can help make the implementation of new methods, techniques or anything else quicker. Previously manufacturers would have to carry laborious and extensive surveys to gage audience reaction. However, with social media feedback and communication is almost instantaneous.
As 2016 draws closer, the manufacturing industry will continue to rely on data to streamline operations and help make them more efficient.Another driver in the reinvention of the sector is the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Citrix believes that the manufacturing industry is going to continue to rely on data to make operations much more streamlined and efficient.
Marketing and Personalization
2016 will see manufacturing and marketing work closer together. Normally two separate industries, a manufacturing team will develop products, and then upon completion a marketing team will pick it up. Manufacturers will be made to give more attention to product marketing from conception.
Example: MP3 and smart phone markets before Apple did not focus on the customization of experience. Making sure a product is a better fit for the audience makes a more enjoyable experience.
The Rise of Robotics
Reinvention of the industry is increasing due to the affordability of general-purpose robotics. This means that smaller manufacturers can turn to automation operations. The new automation trend will help create new roles and help start a new trend of product development and catalyzing a new era of innovation.
According to technology research film, Gartner, the Internet-of-Things will connect over 30 billion machines in 2020 and create $1.9 trillion of added value. Real value will be created at factory levels. This will be done with harnesses data, which will be examined and have decisions based on it.
