Membrane Keyboards: The Human to Machine Interface (HMI) of choice for the Security Industry
Since the London bombings in 2006, the riots across the UK in 2011 and the constant threat of terrorist attacks, the security industry has seen significant increase in investment over the last 8 years.
Businesses are turning to manufacturers to provide innovative security systems. An important component of these cutting edge systems are the control panels. Controls panels are what allow humans to interact directly with the machine, and so they need to incorporate a simple but effective design.
Membrane keyboards prove to be the ideal solution for the human to machine interface (HMI), as they are less bulky than other keypads and are extremely robust, able to withstand a variety of extreme conditions.
Membrane keyboards can be compact and in some cases designed as thin as 0.4mm, giving the control panel a modern look. They are also very versatile and can be used use on a variety of different products including: electronic access control panels and CCTV, intruder alarms, fire detection and control panels, gates, barriers and door entry systems.
At Fascia Graphics®, we can incorporate different films and materials into our membrane keyboards making them fire retardant and able to withstand harsh chemicals. Our membrane keyboards can also be manufactured to IP65, IP67 or IP68 rating. These ratings define the level of protection the membrane keyboard has from the intrusion of dirt and moisture.
With an ingress protection rating of IP68, our keyboards are sealed and cannot be damaged even if submerged in water.
