Siemens to Manufacture its Wind Turbines across two UK Sites
UK manufacturing is continuing to be on the rise following more good news from Siemens. The multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate announced Tuesday that it will invest £160million in wind turbine and installation facilities in Yorkshire.
Siemens £160million investment will front a new rotor blade manufacturing facility in Paull in the east of Yorkshire, whilst their port partner, Associated British Ports (ABP), will provide a further £150m for the Green Port Hull development. The Green Port Hull development which Siemens initially had intentions to develop back in 2011 will support construction, assembly and servicing of turbines.
Like Hitachi’s announcement last week to move its rail business to the UK at create 1,500 jobs, this news from Siemens comes as equally good news to the UK manufacturing industry, with the combined investment of £310million creating up to 1,000 direct jobs and with further job growth expected in the supply chain.
