The Manufacturing process of a Membrane Keyboard

The Manufacturing process of a Membrane Keyboard

When you order a membrane keyboard from us here at Fascia Graphics®, you may wonder what process goes into to producing your finished product.

In this blog we will discuss the manufacturing process of you membrane keyboard. Firstly when a quote request is made, the customer is contacted by one of our account managers. The account manager will discuss with the customer, how they want their membrane keyboard to look and feel, getting as much information as possible to aid the engineers.

This information is then handed over to our experienced engineers, who, based on the information supplied, produce a quote package. If the quote is accepted by the customer and ordered, the engineers will then load the order. Working with both the graphic design team and ink mixing department to produce the artworks of the membrane keyboard and colour samples, to be approved before the membrane keyboard goes into production.

Once the artwork and colours have been approved, the membrane keyboard can start production. Firstly the graphic overlays are screen printed using one of our state of the art Sakurai MS80-SD Printing Lines, with the necessary lacquers being screen printed onto the graphic overlay also. At this stage the electric circuits are also screen printed with silver conductive ink, ready to be assembled to the membrane keyboard later on in the process.

Once printed the graphic overlays go to our finishing department, this is where the membrane keyboards are tooled and embossed if necessary.

The final stage of the production is the membrane keyboard assembly. This is where electric circuits and LEDs are applied and tested; ensuring that when the membrane keyboard arrives to the customer it is fully operational.
